The company that manages most of the Malaysian airports is Malaysian Airports Berhad. The company was incorporated in 1991 when it was sanctioned by the government to manage and operate the airports. This came in that year when the government separated the Department of Civil Aviation and Malaysian Airports. The DCA will be the regulatory body for the aviation industry while Malaysian Airports will undertake the operation of the airports. Malaysian Airports Holdings Berhad was incorporated the same year and was then listed in the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia. It is the first company in Asia and sixth in the world which is an airport operating company to be listed in the bourse.

Its main operations is the KLIA (KL International Airport) in Sepang which adopts the TAMS (total airport Management System) using state-of-the-art technologies. The company currently has 10 other subsidiaries namely Malaysia Airports Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia Airports (Niaga) Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia Airports Management & Technical Services Sdn. Bhd., Sepang International Circuit Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia Airports Technologies Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia Airports (Properties) Sdn. Bhd., K.L Airport Hotel Sdn. Bhd., MAB Agriculture-Holticulture Sdn. Bhd and Asia Pacific Auction Centre Sdn. Bhd.

Apart from Malaysia, it also provides management services for Airports in other countries including the Angkor International Airport and Phnom Penh International Airport in Cambodia as well as the Astana International Airport in Kazakhstan, Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, India, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, India and Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey. In Malaysia, it manages 39 airports that include Batu Berendam Airport, Bintulu Airport, Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Kuching International Airport, Labuan Airport, Langkawi International Airport, Miri Airport, Penang International Airport, Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport, Tawau Airport and others.
