Bureau of Innovation & Consultancy, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Known as the ICC, this agency is the one involved in transferring technology from the university to relevant bodies through research and other efforts. This includes commercializing intellectual property via the likes of patents, copyrights, licensing and other related areas.

Fisheries Research Institute (FRI)

The FRI plays a vital role in providing facilities and programmes to better improve the fisheries industry of Malaysia. This is done through incubation of research programmes, preservation and conservation efforts and other initiatives for researchers to better carry out their studies.

Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM)

FRIM is one of the most prominent agencies in Malaysia where it is involved mainly in providing forestry research for academia and industry practitioners. Housed within a large forest environment, FRIM is among the oldest agencies around which has a museum, research labs and other facilities.

Institute of Research Management & Monitoring, University of Malaya (IPPP)

The IPPP is the main research arm for University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. It has an office that manages research activities and as a one-stop centre to coordinate these events. Besides that, IPP is involved in managing research funds and human resources as well.

Malaysian Agricultural Research & Development Institute (MARDI)

This agency plays one of the most important roles in providing knowledge through research to improve the Malaysian agricultural industry. With placements across Malaysia, MARDI is involved in assistance, consultancy and other efforts that can help elevate the livelihood of farmers and those affected in these industries.

Malaysian Centre For Remote Sensing (MACRES)

MACRES is currently known as MRSA (Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency). It is involved mainly in the research and development of applications and other related areas of remote sensing and its technologies which are mainly adopted and used for agricultural processes.

Malaysian Cocoa Board (MCB)

The MCB functions as a research and development agency dedicated solely to the growing of cocoa in Malaysia. It helps to assist stakeholders like processing companies, farmers and others in this industry to produce cocoa and expand their reach to the markets.

MIMOS Berhad

This is known as the National Research and Development Centre of ICT. Generally, MIMOS is involved in areas of Information and Communications Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology and Nano-Semiconductor Technology, among others where it runs programmes, initiatives and other events to promote these sectors.

Malaysian Institute for Nuclear Technology Research (MINT)

MINT is the agency involved in the development and research of nuclear technology for Malaysia. This includes generating new products and opening avenues where research technology can be commercialized and effectively adopted for reasons that are beneficial for the improvement of the nation.

Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB)

MPOB is the agency that handles all the matters related to the development of palm oil in Malaysia. This includes initiatives and providing consultation to stakeholders like estate owners, farmers and others in this sector like policies, regulations, financial advice and other input.

Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB)

MRB is responsible to grow the local rubber industry and its related areas. Through research and innovation, development of this sector can be elevated where MRB helps to organize programmes, events and related initiatives for all that are involved in the production of this crop.

Malaysian Timber Council (MTC)

The Malaysian Timber Council plays an integral role in facilitating research and other efforts to develop the timber industries of Malaysia to other parts of the world. It is involved in promoting the trade of timber products both within the region and towards the global market, among others.

Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB)

MTIB’s role is slightly different from MTC where it’s main objective is to develop the development of the timber industry. It helps to build a sustainable model for the industry to compete in the market and in upgrading of skills and other areas for the local producers.

Research Management Centre, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

The RMC for UTM is the main coordination agency which is responsible in managing research matters for the public university. As a major focus for the institute, it handles issues like research efforts, grants and funding as well as commercialization of research projects.

Research Management Centre, Universiti Putra Malaysia

This is the research centre for UPM where it facilitates all efforts for research and development. Services are provided for both faculty and students where it helps to coordinate projects in terms of financial assistance, facilities and other services required.

Research Management Institute (RMI), Universiti Teknologi MARA

The RMI is UiTM’s research arm where it provides the space and environment for students and faculty to collaborate in research and innovation. It is responsible for the management of funding, linkage with industry and any other efforts to elevate the research status of the university.

SIRIM Berhad

SIRIM is the central agency responsible for industrial research and technology organisation. The agency is owned by MoF Incorporated where it is the national champion for quality, ensuring that organisations adhere to the standards through audit checks and other efforts.

Standards Malaysia

This agency is the Malaysian avenue to enhance the quality of products and services of Malaysia. This is done through putting in place initiatives and standards for the production and delivery of Malaysian products and services that are competitive and of international standard.

UKM Pakarunding Sdn Bhd

UKM Pakarunding is the consulting arm for UKM. Its role is to market subject experts from the academics of the university through consultancy and other services through a corporate and professional platform to link academia with the best in the industry.
